OPERATIONAL GOALS

 

Nicehearts’ goal is to support our community’s self-reliance, equality and promotion and production multicultural activities for girls and women.

Our activities aim to create a long-term network and promote a point of encounter between women of different culture and ages on a daily basis.

 

OUR VISION

Our vision is to spread the association’s thoughts, ideas, and actions, as well as increase     our  influence, expertise,

resources of prosperity and equality among people.

 

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to enable women’s active operations, to promote gender equality and influence in society. We strive to raise foreign women’s’ lives and living conditions in Finland. We participate in projects and co-operate with different cultural associations like youth work and women’s activities locally and internationally.

Being together and exchanging ideas is crucial. Planning and implementing different ideas     that support our ideal.

 

Created in 2001, Nicehearts ry is a women and girls’ productive association, supported by a multi-cultural women’s resource centre called Pihlaja in Vantaa. Pihlaja celebrated its grand opening on October 2009. 

The Association has approximately 75 members. The board is elected in our autumn meeting, where we also establish the following year business plan and budget. At the spring meeting we lay financial statements report. The Association board comprises 7-9 members.

 

Our association’s objectives are:

-          To improve girls and women’s well being.

-          To promote the integration process of foreigners and improve their regional participation

-          To help girls and women build their self-confidence, promote equality and multi-cultural activities.

 

Nicehearts aims to bring together women from different cultures and ages create a long lasting network between them.

 

The Women’s Resource Center Pihlaja offers:

-          Catering services

-          Handmade products shop

-          Sewing and ordering services

-          Meeting and banquet space rental as well as planning and assistance 

 

Pihlaja is a multicultural environment, where women and girls make things happen! Please feel free to come and visit.

We are open weekly from 9.00 – 15.00. We occasionally organize different events as well as training and courses during the evenings and weekends. The ongoing courses can be found on the event section above. We also have a handmade shop where you can come and visit to find out more about us, how we work and what we do. At the same time you can also meet our staff members and ask more about us.

Services and Activities

 

Vantaan Nicehearts takes trainees in the project. Vantaan Employment office gives job seekers an opportunity to practice work in the organization. Every applicant is interviewed and registered. The purpose of the training is to:

-          Give insight to the Finnish labour market situation

-          Make the person ready for work

-                                     And to give her potential benefit of the training period to pursue.

-The training period is usually a three month contract and it can be renewed if (needed) necessary.

 

Negotiations for a new contract are always made by the Employment office, jobseekers (trainees) and the training site staff. During the training period we teach civics skills like the duties and rights of a Finnish citizens, language skills, e-services, health information, household and manual skills. Aiming to raise the women self-esteem and encouraging them to act. We also personally help our customers in search of work places and help them make job applications and act as a connection between customers and the employer. The project manager provides customers with necessary guidelines to facilitate access to employment.

 

Activating and Support

 

Customers receive assistance in their personal matters. The group activities and personal support helps to improve the customers’ social skills aiming to promote our customers’ general knowledge overall health and well-being, to facilitate their transition to the labour market.

How to join us

All girls over 10 years old and woman can join the Vantaa Nicehearts. All members are offered an opportunity to participate to our courses and seminars. As a member you have the opportunity to participate in our association activities. Join us in planning and developing the association and its rules. All members are also entitled to participate in the spring and fall meetings where we discuss about our associations' statutory rules.
